JESUS DIDN'T WANT TO DIE FOR YOUR SINS

Have you ever thought about the prayer Jesus prayed while in the garden just before he was betrayed. He asked God to work out another way to save us. He wanted out. The truth is, he was human and new what was in store for him in the coming hours and he didn't want to have to endure it.

You might think that I'm bordering on heresy by saying that Jesus didn't want to die for our sins. But look at the scripture. He didn't want to die for our sins. But he wanted to save us more than he wanted out of dying for us. That is what I find amazing.

If Jesus didn't really concern himself with the logistics of dying for us, then really, it would mean less. But since he truly didn't want to have to face that much pain and shame, it more strongly proves his desire to save us.

Thank you Jesus, for doing that which you didn't want to do, in order to save me.

  • Typo in first paragraph. "new" = "knew".

Great post by the way - to have the courage to say something that's not politically correct. But you're right. I came away with a different conclusion than you did though. Your conclusion was that he wanted to save us more than he wanted to avoid dying for us. Fairly complicated, but I get what you're saying. Please remember he also said "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak". My opinion is that Jesus simply didn't want to have to do it. Period. He said not my will, but yours be done. So to me this says his act was an act of obedience to God. Not necessarily an act of love for us. Its God that loved us ... and sent his Son to suffer. His son? Well .. he didn't want to have to go through it. And that's not a bad thing. It shows that he was human. But the redeeming factor here isnt that he "wanted to save us" more than he "wanted out". Its that he wanted to obey God the Father more than he wanted to save himself. That obedience to his father is what I feel is the true message here. I know we want to believe Jesus loved us. And im sure he did. That was part of it no doubt. But when the time came to get nailed to the cross, the decision was "Do I obey God, or not". Im sure its a combination of Love for us, Obedience to God, etc. But there's no doubt based on begging three times, that jesus did not want to have to die for us in order to save us. His love for the Father and obedience is the only reason he did it. Maybe :)
